Job Description

Basic Function:

Assists the Head. Risk Management in risk identification, analysis, evaluation and physical control in compliance with Company Group Corporate Risk Management policy and procedures.

Work Performed:

  • Conducts technical reviews of FEED (Front End Engineering Design) of all new major projects, both on and off shore; identifies risk factors makes recommendations to migrate those risk factors and monitors status of recommendations through to close-out.
  • Assists in all risk engineering activities in respect of operational risk management and reinsurance surveys including: operational sites both upstream and downstream, office buildings, and hospitals and RAMs.
  • Assists in the preparation of special risk analyses studies and monitors compliance status of risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Maintains Company Group Risk Control Guidelines in injunction with Group Companies' safety and engineering standards.
  • Organizes and participates in the review, of specifications and engineering design for new projects in the FEED stage ensuring appropriate loss prevention measures are incorporated at an early cost-effective stage
  • Reviews and updates procedures in the GRMD Procedures Manual and the Information. Portal for Company Group Risk Management and provides six monthly updates of RMRs. (Risk Mitigation Recommendation).
  • Reviews all reports. on Operational Risk Management Surveys, Reinsurer and Insurance Risk Engineering Surveys, New Major Projects Risk Review, Risk Profile of Company  and related special studies submitted by the Consultants for technical correctness, including calculation of Companies· estimated EML (Estimated Maximum  Loss) and Bl (Business Interruption).
  • Assists in promoting the Corporate Risk Management Policy and Strategy throughout the Company Group through training, seminars, office and site visits, simulation exercises and publications.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of technical justifications for the implementation of RMRs (Risk Management Recommendations).
  • Maintains statistics and records on all potential identified risk exposures illustrating the normal and catastrophic Estimated Maximum Loss (EML) and providing Business Interruption calculations (Bl) at each operating site.
  • Conducts monthly performance meetings to analyses and monitor the performance of Risk Management and Insurance Consultants.
  • Performs other similar or related duties, as assigned, such as conducting studies in the field, carrying out site visits, preparing periodic status reports on risk management activities etc.

 

 

 

Work Contracts:

  • Regular contact with Company Group senior personnel in relation to risk management issues.
  • Regular contact with risk control engineers and surveyors of insurers and reinsurers, and those of Company Consultants.
  • Occasional contact with Abu Dhabi statutory bodies as and when required.

Independence of Operation:

  • Reports to Head Risk Management
  • Performs duties according to established policies, procedures and specialized industry engineering/safety standards and practices.

Physical Effort:

  • Exposure to eye strain due to operation of computers for 70% of working time. Exposed to harsh weather conditions 30% of work time due to site visits.

Work Environment:

  • Makes regular visits to site and offices of the Company to coordinate visits from overseas consultants as and when required.

Skills

  • Bachelors' Degree in Chemical, Petrochemical or Petroleum Engineering. 
  • Associate of the Institute of Risk Management (AIRM) or equivalent is an advantage.
  • 10-12 year’s relevant experience in Risk Management and Project Safety Engineering (upstream and downstream) in the field of oil and gas.
  • Excellent command of English language both written and verbal.  Good knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.     

Education

Bachelors' Degree in Chemical, Petrochemical or Petroleum Engineering.
